Athenry Musical Society
The Athenry Musical Society would like to thank everyone who generously supported its Annual Church Gate Collection at the weekend.
Marilyn Bane nominated as Best Comedienne
Marilyn Bane from Athenry has been nominated as Best Comedienne in this year’s national AIMS (Association of Irish Musical Society) awards. She has been nominated following her role in Athenry Musical Society’s production of “Guys and Dolls” earlier this year. The awards will take place in Killarney on Saturday the 16th of June.
This is the second year in a row that a member of Athenry Musical Society has been nominated for the Best Comedienne award. Last year, Cathriona O’Connell from the society scooped the same award, and the society is hoping to repeat last year’s success with Marilyn’s nomination.
“We are delighted with Marilyn’s nomination.” said Thomas Rohan, Chairperson of Athenry Musical Society. “Marilyn gave an outstanding performance of “Adelaide” in this year’s musical ‘Guys and Dolls’. It is a great achievement for Marilyn, and for Athenry Musical Society.”
Marilyn Bane first came to the public’s attention during “You’re a Star” in 2005/2006. Since “You’re a Star”, she has been busy writing and recording music, and has taken leading roles in Athenry Musical Society’s last two productions.
